Retreats

Come away from the bustle of life… to a safe place to … rest, play, grow.

Trinity as FOO retreat

We all get a bit weary on this journey called LIFE and need to stop and rest in an oasis. I regularly put on spirituality retreats that are aimed at refreshing your soul and in the process your mind and body too.

Upcoming Retreats:

One Wild and Precious Life: Rest, Play, Grow!

In our busy lives we are in great need of rest and play for resilience. During the retreat there will be much ‘free time’ and on Saturday evening we will get a chance to ‘play’ together by watching classic movies or playing board games, dancing or any other ‘silliness’ that recalibrates our nervous systems with FUN. There will also be sessions offering you content for reflection and growth:

  1. Rest in Right Relationships; Recovering a sense of Connection  (reflections on attachment theory for richer relationships).
  2. Play as activated rest: the neuroscience behind play and creativity. Introducing Neurographic exercises and other creative outlets to restore our souls.
  3. Circle of Trust: engaging in a Courage and Renewal exercise with a poem and a creative exercise to reflect on our lives and emerging areas of growth.
  4. Interconnectedness and Awe: the new science of awe and the healing benefits of nature.

One wild & precious life retreat 2024

Sydney, Australia, Sept 20-22nd 2024

A weekend of connection, interwoven with spiritual and creative renewal. Rich Relationships, Rich Reflection and Rich Resources for Rest and Play.

The poet, Mary Oliver, asks the profound question, “Tell me what you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” To which Rumi has a very compelling answer: “Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray”.

If you want to be drawn into a richer, more fulfilling life, join Ruth on this refreshing retreat, synthesising poetry, principles from The Artist Way book, as well as time for recreation and time to create/play.

The theme of this retreat is Rest Play Grow. Our sessions will be focused on the need for rest and play for resilience.

  1. Rest in Right Relationships: Recovering a sense of Connection (through 3 levels of attachment: to others, to self and to God/spirituality).
  2. Play as activated rest: the neuroscience behind play and creativity. Introducing neurographic exercises and other creative outlets to restore our souls and reboot your nervous system.
  3. Circle of Trust: engaging in a Courage and Renewal exercise with a poem (Based on the work of Parker Palmer); a creative exercise to reflect on our lives and emerging areas of growth.
  4. Interconnectedness and Awe: the new science of awe and the healing benefits of nature.

During the retreat there will be plenty of ‘free time’ and chances for Rest and Play as well as high quality input during the sessions. There will be space to go on your own Artist Date (bring your own artistic material – a limited supply will also be available).
